Hides Shorts surfaces
Sidebar links, shelves, search cards, and recommendation blocks that point into Shorts are removed from the page.
Free Chrome extension
Unshort removes Shorts from the places they pull you in, then opens Shorts links as regular videos so one clip does not become a scroll session.
Most focus extensions turn YouTube into a settings project. Unshort does one job: it removes the Shorts trap and leaves the rest of YouTube alone.
How it works
Sidebar links, shelves, search cards, and recommendation blocks that point into Shorts are removed from the page.
A Shorts link becomes a regular watch page, so you can view the clip without entering the endless Shorts feed.
There is no dashboard to maintain. Turn it on once and keep using YouTube for learning, music, tutorials, and research.
Privacy
Unshort sends anonymous product events to Amplitude: an installation ID, version, language, setting changes, and whether Shorts were hidden or redirected. It never sends URLs, video IDs, searches, page content, or YouTube account data.
FAQ
No. It removes Shorts surfaces and redirects Shorts links while normal videos, search, subscriptions, and watch pages keep working.
Yes. The MVP is completely free. If paid features are added later, the core remove-Shorts behavior should stay free.
If you want to redesign every YouTube page, a broader focus tool may fit. Unshort is for people who like YouTube but do not want Shorts.
